This weekend I tried out a chill brewing method. I didn’t use a heat exchanger but instead used the snow to chill the beer. It does take a bit longer but if you are watching NFL playoffs it works out better.
Foreign English Stout
Malt
- 1 lb Roasted Barley
- 6 oz Black Patent Malt
- 4 oz Chocolate Malt
- 4 oz Cocoa Nibs
- 8 lbs LME
- 3 lbs Corn
Hops
- 1 oz Challenger
- 1 oz Styrian Golding
- 4 oz wild hops
- 1 Tbs Irish Moss
English Ale yeast (safale s-04)
Gravity
- O.G. 1.060 – 1/10/2014
- S.G. 1.028 – 1/27/2014
- F.G. 1.022 – 3/08/2014
Red Rye
Malt
- 8 oz Light Munich
- 8 oz Medium Crystal
- 4 oz Extra Dark Crystal
- 4 oz Light Crystal
- 7.5 lbs LME
- 3 lbs Corn
Hops
- 3 oz Citra
- 2.2 oz Columbus
- 1 Tbs Irish Moss
American Ale yeast (safale us-05)
