This weekend I tried out a chill brewing method. I didn’t use a heat exchanger but instead used the snow to chill the beer. It does take a bit longer but if you are watching NFL playoffs it works out better.

Foreign English Stout

Malt

  • 1 lb Roasted Barley
  • 6 oz Black Patent Malt
  • 4 oz Chocolate Malt
  • 4 oz Cocoa Nibs
  • 8 lbs LME
  • 3 lbs Corn

Hops

  • 1 oz Challenger
  • 1 oz Styrian Golding
  • 4 oz wild hops
  • 1 Tbs Irish Moss

English Ale yeast (safale s-04)

Gravity

  • O.G. 1.060 – 1/10/2014
  • S.G. 1.028 – 1/27/2014
  • F.G. 1.022 – 3/08/2014
